About AFR-EOCNET

A Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC) is a hub for coordinating the preparation for and response to Public Health Events (PHEs). It brings together multi-disciplinary and multi-sectorial experts to coordinate responses to PHEs in a structured manner using Incident Management System (IMS). It also enables collaboration, communication and availability of real time and quality information for evidence based decision making and effective operations.

Membership

All Member States with Public Health EOCs (PHEOCs) in the WHO African Region are members of the Regional EOC network. In addition, those Member States which do not have PHEOCs participate in the network to learn from others as they endeavour to establish one. Other regional organizations such as WAHO and Africa CDC are also members of the network. The Network welcomes members from the public and private sectors, civil society, foundations, technical agencies and operational entities.

The network serves as a Platform, for collaboration and partnership. There is a robust partnership for implementing PHEOC in the African Region. Partners involved include Africa CDC, WAHO, US CDC, Resolve to save lives, Public health England etc. Several joint activities have been conducted .
